The short answer
ReliableAir HVAC Services repairs furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps and ductless systems in Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, Fairview, Sunol and Pleasanton. Each visit starts with testing, and you approve any work before it begins.
Crossing the county line north of Milpitas, our trucks reach the southern and eastern parts of Alameda County, roughly 17 miles from our San Jose shop. Fremont, Newark and Union City sit on the flat ground along the east side of the Bay, Hayward and Fairview climb into the hills above it, and Sunol and Pleasanton lie over the ridge in the inland valleys. Those are different settings for a furnace or an air conditioner, and we plan service calls with that in mind.
Bayside towns and inland valleys need different attention
Homes in Newark, Union City and the western neighborhoods of Fremont get more of the Bay's moderating breeze. Their cooling systems still run in summer, yet many of the problems we find there relate to long idle stretches: corroded contacts, sticky contactors and condensate lines that grow algae in the mild, damp months.
Pleasanton and Sunol are another matter. Summer afternoons there can feel far warmer than along the shoreline, so condensers labor for hours, capacitors weaken and refrigerant leaks reveal themselves when the load is heaviest. Furnaces in these valley homes also see colder winter nights, which is when a weak igniter or a dirty flame sensor finally gives out.
Repairs we handle across the county
Our technicians carry the meters and common parts needed to resolve most problems in a single trip, and they explain the cause before replacing anything.
- Central AC that runs but blows warm, freezes up or trips the breaker
- Gas furnaces that click without lighting, short-cycle or smell of burning dust
- Heat pumps stuck in defrost or slow to switch modes
- Ductless mini-splits flashing error codes or dripping indoors
- Leaky, crushed or disconnected ducts in Hayward and Fremont attics and crawl spaces
- Thermostats that lose settings or fail to call for heat or cooling
Signs worth a call before summer or winter
Small changes usually come before a breakdown. In Union City and Newark we often hear about an outdoor unit that has started buzzing or a fan that spins slowly at startup. In Pleasanton the early warning tends to be a house that no longer cools down by evening. In the Hayward hills it is a furnace that takes several tries to light on the first cold night.
Catching these signs early gives you more choices. A weak capacitor or a dirty sensor is a modest repair when found in spring or fall, and far more inconvenient when it fails on the hottest or coldest day of the year.
Older equipment and the Air District rules
Plenty of houses in Hayward, Fairview and central Fremont still run original or second-generation furnaces. The Bay Area Air District rules do not require replacing a furnace that works. They come into play only when one fails or is replaced, and gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 must meet a zero-NOx standard, which in practice steers many homeowners toward heat pumps. If your furnace is aging, we will talk through what a future replacement could look like so the decision is not rushed.
Scheduling a visit from San Jose
Tell us the city, the symptom and anything you have already tried, such as changing the filter or resetting the breaker. We give you an arrival window, the technician tests the system on site, and you get a written summary of what was found. For aging systems, we lay out repair and replacement side by side so you can weigh them on your own schedule.
